Puerto Rico October Convention: Speakers confirmed

As preparations continue apace for the 24th World Offshore Convention Puerto Rico, Offshore Investment is pleased to announce the confirmation of additional speakers to the event, which takes place 25-26 October in San Juan.

Among the topics set to be addressed include:

Speakers

Joseph Salterio, President of Omega Group and former CEO of HSBC Panama

With more than 40 years of experience, Joseph converted HSBC from a greenfield operation in Panama to becoming the largest and most profitable bank in Panama and Central America. He was executive chairman and general manager of HSBC Bank (Panama), S.A., President of HSBC Seguros, S.A., and after his retirement in 2008 he became a member of HSBC Panama’s board of directors and is founder of UniBank and Credicorp Bank.

 

Anthony Travers, Senior Partner, Travers Thorp Alberga

Graduated from St Catherine’s University in Cambridge with a Frist Class Degree as a Scholar in Law in 1972, and having qualified in the City of London, he joined the firm of Maples and Calder in 1975. He served as senior partner and managing partner of Maples and Calder for over 20 years and established six overseas offices. Established a new boutique law firm, Travers Thorp Alberga in 2012 of which he serves as Senior partner, advising on all aspects of Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands law.

 

Reaz H. Jafri, Partner, Head of Immigration (US and Asia), Withersworldwide.

Has more than 20 years of experience advising large, multi-facility healthcare providers, research foundations, American businesses, multi-national companies, foreign investors and high-net worth individuals on all aspects of immigration law and regulatory compliance.

 

Gabriel Hernández, Tax Advisory Partner, BDO Puerto Rico

With more than 25 years as a Certified Public Accountant, Gabriel Hernández is an expert in providing tax consulting services to clients in the United States and Puerto Rico, including structuring mergers, acquisitions, outbound and inbound investments. He also has substantial experience in assisting clients in negotiating tax exemption packages under the various tax incentive laws available in Puerto Rico.

 

Erick Negrón, Special Counsel, Rexach & Picó

Primarily engaged in corporate, tax and insurance regulatory practice, Erick received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Yale University, in 1982, and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School in 1985. He has been as actively involved for over a decade in the formulation and implementation of Puerto Rico’s International Insurance Center legislation, and also represents clients benefitting from the local laws originally enacted in 2012 that provide tax incentives for export service operations and for the relocation of high net-worth individuals as new Puerto Rico residents.

 

Frank Holder, Managing Director, Berkeley Research Group

Leads BRG’s Latin America Practice. With over 20 years of experience, he has directed corporate investigations and security consulting assignments in Latin America and the United States. The investigative matters include large-scale internal fraud and public corruption investigations, product protection, litigation support, due diligence, and hostile takeovers. As a security expert, he has designed the security for international airports, seaports, and complex multijurisdictional distribution networks.

 

Bobbe Hirsh, Managing Member, Hirsh & Associates

Has over 34 years of experience advising US and foreign-based multinational companies, high net worth individuals, and executives in all matters of US federal and international taxation. In addition to tax planning and advice. Hirsh represents clients at all levels of tax controversy, including audit, appeal, rulings, closing agreements, competent authority proceedings and tax litigation.

 

Randall Krebs, Director, Harbour International Trust Company

With over 30 years of legal experience as a member of the Bermuda Bar Association, Law Society of Upper Canada and Law Society of Alberta, Randall has been practicing in Bermuda for the last 13 years. He is a Director of Business Development for the Harbour Group of Companies, a licensed Fund Administrator, Insurance Company Manager, Trust Company and Corporate Service Provider.

Jeffrey Kurz, Managing Director – Captive Insurance Consulting, Artex Risk Solutions

Jeffrey has over 25 years of experience in the area of alternative risk financing including work with captive insurance companies, segregated cell captive insurers, risk retention groups and self-insured trusts, with specific concentrations in healthcare, real estate and large privately held multi-national company related risk. Prior to joining Artex, Jeff was the founder and CEO of Red Hook Risk Services, a captive insurance consulting firm in joint venture with Medical Protective, a Berkshire Hathaway Company.
